Authorities plan to defuse an unexploded World War II-era bomb in Dortmund March 25. Officials discovered the device during construction work on Ruhrallee 90. A 250 meter (820 foot) security cordon will be established around the location of the device beginning at 16:00 to facilitate the disposal operation.
No traffic will be permitted within the security cordon and all businesses and residences must be evacuated. Traffic will be suspended on roads in the surrounding area, including the Bundestrasse 54; public transport normally routed through the area will be canceled or diverted. Increased traffic congestion is possible in the surrounding area as drivers seek alternative routes. Officials have not given an estimate for when the disposal operation will conclude.
