Greece: Antifascist activists to protest in Athens May 9

Several activist groups are planning to demonstrate in central Athens May 9 to mark the end of World War Two and to denounce fascism. Participants are planning to gather at the Propylaea at 13:00 before marching to the EU offices on Vasilissis Sofias.

Authorities will deploy additional police to the vicinity of the protest. Increased security measures, including movement restrictions, will likely prompt localized transport disruptions until the protest has concluded. Clashes between security forces and protesters are possible, particularly if the latter breach security cordons.
