Curacao: Authorities have tightened domestic COVID-19 restrictions and amended some travel restrictions as of Aug. 31 /update 29
Curacao has tightened business restrictions and amended some travel rules related to COVID-19 as of Aug. 31.
Event
Authorities in Curacao have tightened COVID-19-related domestic restrictions and amended international travel rules, including ending exemptions for fully vaccinated travelers as of Aug. 31.
Under the current directives, a nightly 00:01-04:30 curfew is in place, during which only people working in essential services are allowed to be outside of their residences. Additionally, gatherings of more than 100 people are banned. Businesses must close at least one hour before the start of the nightly curfew. Individuals are required to wear protective facemasks in indoor public settings and while riding public transportation.
International Travel
All incoming travelers must have medical insurance and must complete the digital immigration card online before departure. All arrivals must also complete the digital Passenger Locator Card (PLC) within 48 hours prior to departure for Curacao and carry a printed and/or digital copy of the document. Authorities have withdrawn a rule that exempted some fully vaccinated travelers from COVID-19-related restrictions. Additional protocols for international travelers will depend on whether they arrive from a very low-, low-, high-, or very high-risk country or territory:
Travelers from very low risk locations are not subject to any further measures. Locations under this risk rating as of Aug. 31 include: Cayman Islands, China, Grenada, Hong Kong, Hungary, Montserrat, New Zealand, Poland, Saba, Singapore, Saint Eustatius, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Taiwan.
Travelers entering from other locations must show proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than 72 hours prior to their departure for Curacao. These individuals must also take an antigen test on the third day following their arrival in Curacao. Travelers must carry proof of these tests throughout their stay. The countries and territories considered low-risk, high-risk and very high-risk as of Aug. 31 can be found here.
All passengers arriving in private vessels are subject to the same restrictions as those arriving from a high-risk location. All travelers may also undergo additional health screenings. Officials could place travelers with COVID-19 symptoms in mandatory quarantine.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, tighten, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
