Norway lifts domestic COVID-19 restrictions and eases international travel restrictions as of Sept. 25
Event
Authorities in Norway have lifted domestic restrictions imposed to combat the spread of COVID-19 as of Sept. 25, ending measures regulating social distancing and capacity limits for businesses, services, and private gatherings. The use of facemasks is no longer recommended by health authorities.
International Entry Restrictions
Authorities also eased entry restrictions for several countries as of Sept. 25. Norway uses the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) assessments of countries' COVID-19 risk profiles to assign international entry restrictions. Travel is now permitted from EEA and Schengen countries, the UK, and Switzerland, and countries designated as purple. Non-essential travel from other countries remains prohibited; exceptions are in place for EU/EEA citizens and residents, their close family members, and limited categories of essential workers.
Permitted travelers arriving from green and orange countries or who can present a certificate of vaccination or recovery from COVID-19 that is linked to the EU Digital Covid Certificate Gateway or issued by authorities in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, or the UK can enter Norway without further requirements.
Other permitted travelers from dark red, purple, and grey countries must fill out a registration form 72 hours prior to arrival, submit to a test on arrival in Norway, and quarantine for 10 days on arrival. Travelers without suitable accommodation for self-isolation must stay in designated quarantine hotels. Quarantine can be ended early following a negative COVID-19 test taken no less than three days after arrival.
A regularly updated list of countries by color designation is available here. The registration form required for travelers from certain countries is available here.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
