Norway to amend COVID-19-related international entry requirements from Nov. 26.

Warning

Event

Authorities will amend international entry restrictions from Nov. 26 to allow admission to all foreign nationals, regardless of point of origin.

International Travel Restrictions
As of Nov. 23, nonessential entry is only permitted for arrivals from EEA and Schengen Area countries, Switzerland, the UK, and “purple”-designated countries, including Argentina, Bahrain, Kuwait, Namibia, New Zealand, Peru, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, the UAE, and Uruguay.

From Nov. 26, all arrivals over the age of 16 years – regardless of nationality or point of origin - will need to complete a registration form 72 hours before arrival; the registration form is available here. Any unvaccinated arrivals, or those without evidence of a recent recovery from the virus, must take a COVID-19 test 24 hours before arrival and another test on entry. Norway only accepts proof of vaccination or recovery that are linked to the EU Digital COVID Certificate Gateway or issued by authorities in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, or the UK; travelers under the age of 18 are exempt from testing requirements..

Norway uses the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) assessments of countries' COVID-19 risk profiles to assign international entry restrictions. Travelers who have only visited green and orange areas in the previous 10 days, or who possess valid proof of vaccination or recovery, can enter without further restriction. Other travelers must quarantine for 10 days on arrival; those without suitable accommodation must stay in designated quarantine hotels. Quarantine can be ended early following a negative COVID-19 test taken no less than three days after arrival. A questionnaire detailing entry restrictions based on specific itineraries is available here.

A regularly updated list of countries by color designation is available here.

Domestic Restrictions
Authorities previously lifted all domestic restrictions Sept. 25.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
