Americas: Marches in relation to Russia-Ukraine conflict planned in multiple cities through late February

Activists plan protests in several cities across Americas through late February in response to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Informational

Event

Activists intend to protest in multiple cities across the Americas through late February in response to the ongoing Russian military offensive in Ukraine. Some of the demonstrations that have been confirmed include, but are not limited to, the following times and locations:

  • Washington, D.C.: Protest outside the White House Feb. 25 between 12:00-20:00

  • Vancouver, Canada: Protest outside Vancouver Art Gallery Feb. 26 from 13:00

  • Ottawa, Canada: Protest outside Embassy of the Russian Federation in Canada Feb. 27 from 14:00

Demonstrations outside Russian and Ukrainian diplomatic representations are likely in several capital cities. Gatherings may also take place in main squares and outside government buildings to demand action from national authorities. Protest actions could cause localized transport disruptions. Clashes are unlikely, but low-level confrontations may occur if police use force to disperse gatherings. Demonstrations could become larger and more widespread in response to developments in the conflict.

Advice

Avoid all demonstrations as a standard precaution. Heed instructions of local officials.
