Activists affiliated with multiple unions and workers' organizations plan to hold protests in numerous cities across Latin America and the Caribbean on May 1, to commemorate Worker's Day.

The largest confirmed protests include:

  • Buenos Aires, Argentina: Rally at the intersection of Avenida de Mayo and Avenida 9 de Julio, 14:00.

  • Santiago, Chile: March from Plaza Baquedano to the intersection of Alameda and Avenida Santa Rosa, 10:00.

  • Cartagena, Colombia: March from Cuatro Vientos to Parque Virgen del Carmen, 08:30.

  • San Jose, Costa Rica: Rally at Parque Central, 08:30.

  • Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic: Rally at Plaza Mauricio Baez, 10:00.

  • Quito, Ecuador: March from the Social Security building (IESS) to San Francisco Square, 08:30.

  • San Salvador, El Salvador: Two marches planned: one from from Palacio de los Deportes to Plaza Civica Gerardo Barrios, 08:00; the other from the Finance Ministry to the Centro Civico Cultural, 07:30.

  • Tegucigalpa, Honduras: March from Casa Barahona in La Granja to Parque Central, 07:00.

  • Panama City, Panama: March from Parque Porras to Plaza 5 de Mayo, early morning.

  • San Juan, Puerto Rico: March from Plaza Colon to La Fortaleza, 13:00.

  • Montevideo, Uruguay: March fro Avenida Libertador to Plaza 1ro de Mayo, 09:00.

  • Caracas, Venezuela: March from Plaza Morelos to Parque Carabobo, 09:00.

Protests are highly likely in multiple other cities. Tens of thousands are likely to participate in some of the major demonstrations in capital cities, especially in Argentina, Chile, and Mexico.

Thousands are likely to participate in most protests. Heightened security near the protest sites and transport disruptions are likely. Clashes between protesters and police in some of the locations cannot be ruled out.
