Authorities in Niger ease COVID-19-related international travel protocols as of April 20. Domestic restrictions remain in place.

Warning

Event

As of April 20, authorities have eased the COVID-19-related international travel protocols. Vaccinated travelers who received their last dose at least four weeks prior to arrival in the country can enter and exit without additional restrictions. Unvaccinated travelers must present a negative PCR test result to enter and depart the country. The test must be less than five days old if the traveler is arriving from or departing to a UEMOA member country (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote D'Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Senegal, and Togo) and less than 72 hours old if traveling to and from any other country. Domestic restrictions remain in place.

Domestic Measures
Wearing a facemask is mandatory in public and social distancing of at least 1 meter (3 feet) is required. Large gatherings remain banned. All measures are subject to change at short notice.

International Travel Restrictions
Niamey's Diori Hamani International (NIM) and other airports in the country are open. Travelers to Niger may upload their negative pre-travel COVID-19 test result to the Trusted Travel (TT) website or Global Haven portal to receive a quick response (QR) code to be presented to and verified by airport and port health authorities. Travelers without proof of a COVID-19 vaccination or a negative PCR test will be required to quarantine for seven days upon arrival. After seven days they will undergo a PCR test; if the test is positive they will be required to remain quarantined for an additional seven days.

Land borders are open and international air travel is permitted. Overland travelers will likely face entry and exit protocols similar to air travel restrictions.
