Officials in Henan Province will ease COVID-19 curbs in Zhengzhou from May 11 amid reduced COVID-19 activity. Businesses may resume normal operations, except those in closed and control areas with localized lockdown measures in place. Public transport may also operate. Nonessential indoor entertainment venues must remain closed through May 13, while dine-in services can resume from May 14. Officials continue to advise residents not to leave Zhengzhou unless necessary; individuals that need to exit Zhengzhou must present a negative nucleic acid test result taken within 24 hours and a green health code. Entrants to the city will need to provide a negative COVID-19 test obtained within 48 hours before arrival.

The government has designated Piaoqiao and Longjing villages in Xinyang City as medium risk as of May 11. Residents of and individuals with recent exposure to these areas must remain in their homes; exceptions may be possible for emergencies and essential reasons. Authorities have closed nonessential businesses and banned gatherings in affected communities, and restricted travel to and from such areas. Leaders typically extend measures until two weeks after the latest date of newly confirmed community cases and will likely conduct several rounds of testing before easing restrictions.

Lingering business and transport disruptions are possible as businesses and recreational facilities gradually reopen in Zhengzhou. Officials may reimpose restrictions if there are new COVID-19 cases. Strict controls, such as stay-at-home orders and closure of nonessential businesses, are possible. Increased health screenings are likely at airports and other passenger transport hubs in Henan Province.
