Event
Activist groups are demonstrating outside the Buenos Aires Legislature building in Buenos Aires June 2. Protesting groups include the Dario Santillan Popular Front (Frente Popular Dario Santillan, FPDS) and Union of Workers of the Popular Economy (Union de Trabajadores y Trabajadoras de la Economia Popular, UTEP). The demonstration began 10:00 and is being held against the so-called Farmacity Law, which UTEP accuses of benefitting large businesses over smaller ones. The legislature building is near Plaza de Mayo; participants may gather there after their protest. Attendance may reach the low hundreds.
An increased police presence and localized transport disruptions are likely near the rally site. Clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out, especially if security forces attempt to forcibly disperse crowds.
Advice
Avoid the protest as a precaution. If violence occurs, immediately leave the area and seek shelter in a non-government building. Seek alternate routes. Do not attempt to drive through protester roadblocks; wait for police to dismantle them instead before proceeding. Allow additional time to reach destinations near potential protest locations. Heed the instructions of security personnel.
