Sudan: Authorities amend COVID-19-related international travel restrictions as of June 22 /update 32

Event

Authorities in Sudan have recently amended the country's COVID-19-related international travel restrictions. As of June 22, fully vaccinated passengers may enter the country with a valid vaccination certificate indicating inoculation with their last vaccine dose at least 14 days and no more than eight months before arrival. Arriving individuals who do not meet the vaccination criterion are required to present a negative result from a PCR test; the time frame in which travelers may be tested differs based on the origin of travel. Travelers arriving from Europe, Asia, and the Americas may submit a negative result from a PCR test taken within 96 hours before arrival; those traveling from Africa and the Middle East are required to present a negative result from a PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival. Passengers under eight years of age are exempt from these entry requirements.

Domestic Measures
No COVID-19-related domestic restrictions are in effect in Sudan.

International Travel Restrictions
Arriving travelers may be subject to medical screening upon arrival, possibly including COVID-19 testing. COVID-19-related restrictions on travel across land borders have largely been lifted; however, the eastern border with Ethiopia remains closed due to insecurity in the northern regions of that country.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
