Uruguay: Authorities continue to update COVID-19-related restrictions as of June 17 /update 32

Event

Authorities in Uruguay continue to update some COVID-19-related entry restrictions as of June 17. After initially lifting the mask requirement on Aril 4, authorities have once again made masks mandatory for people with respiratory infections, health center personnel, and anyone who enters a health center.

Domestic Measures
Facemasks are required for people with respiratory infections, health center personnel, and anyone entering a health center in light of rising COVID-19 cases. Authorities also highly recommend that individuals wear facemasks on public transportation. Most businesses are able to operate following health protocols.

International Travel Restrictions
All arrivals must fill out an affidavit about their health and vaccination status no less than 48 hours before their departure. Foreign nationals are also still required to have health insurance. Foreign nationals who can show proof of having completed vaccination within nine months before departing for Uruguay are exempt from testing requirements. However, foreign passengers who are not fully vaccinated must present a negative result from a COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours before departure for Uruguay. Persons who can show a positive RT-PCR test confirming disease infection no more than 90 and no fewer than 10 days before departure can enter without having to show proof of vaccination or take additional tests.

Officials could further tighten, ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on local disease activity. Authorities could enforce targeted local measures in some areas assessed to be high risk.
