Authorities are responding to the discovery of a World War II-era bomb in Leverkusen Aug. 15. The device was discovered during on Werkstattenstrasse in the Opladen area of the city during construction work. Authorities are imposing a 400 meter (1,312 foot) evacuation security cordon around the device to facilitate the disposal operation.

No individuals or traffic will be permitted within the security cordon for the duration of the disposal operation. Public transport normally routed through the area will be canceled or diverted.; rail traffic through Leverkusen Opladen Station will likely be disrupted. Increased traffic congestion is likely on alternative routes. Officials have not given an estimated time for when traffic will be restored.
