Heightened security is likely in the Tadjourah Region, particularly near military and government facilities, in the coming days following an armed attack, Oct. 6. A senior government official has alleged that militants aligned with the Front for the Restoration of Unity and Democracy (FRUD) attacked a military base in the Garabtissan area killing seven soldiers and injuring several others.

Officials are likely to deploy additional security personnel to the area. Additional patrols and checkpoints are likely. Additional confrontations between FRUD-linked forces and Djiboutian security personnel could occur. Incidents of civil unrest in response to the incident could also occur in the coming days. Security personnel are likely to deploy to all gathering sites. Clashes could occur.
