Authorities are planning to defuse an unexploded WWII-era bomb discovered on Angelika-Machinek-Strasse near the Katharinenkreisel in the Bockenheim area of Frankfurt Oct. 12. Officials have issued evacuation orders for residents within an approximately 1,000-meter (0.6-mile) radius of the bomb, instructing the 20,000 people subject to the orders to leave the area by 09:00 Oct. 12; public transport to and from the impacted area will temporarily cease at that time. Authorities will open a support center for affected residents at the Ballsporthalle Frankfurt am Main at 08:00 Oct. 12.

Police will likely implement road diversions near the affected area, causing increased traffic congestion. Officials did not immediately provide a specific time for when the disposal operation will conclude.
