Greece: Activists to demonstrate in Thessaloniki from 12:00 Oct. 8

Several civil rights activists groups plan to demonstrate in central Thessaloniki Oct. 8 in solidarity with protesters in Iran. Participants will gather at the Statue of Venizelos from 12:00; attendance will likely be in the low hundreds.

Additional police will likely deploy to monitor and facilitate the action. Large crowds and associated security measures could prompt localized business and transport disruptions. The action is likely to pass off peacefully though isolated clashes cannot be ruled out.
