Event

Several activist groups plan to protest in Athens Oct. 7 against the right-wing group Golden Dawn. An appeal hearing involving members of the group is scheduled at the Court of Appeal the same day. Activists will gather outside the court from 09:00; attendance will likely be in the hundreds.

Additional police will deploy to monitor the protests. Large crowds and associated security measures will likely prompt localized disruptions in the surrounding area. Isolated clashes are possible should Golden Dawn supporters attempt to stage counterprotests at the court. While bystanders are unlikely to be directly targeted in any violence they would face an indirect threat of harm.
