As of Oct. 25, Emirati authorities have stopped issuing 30-day tourist visas for citizens from 21 countries, including Uganda, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Cameroon, Nigeria, Liberia, Burundi, Republic of Guinea, Gambia, Togo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Benin, Ivory Coast, Congo, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Guinea Bissau, Comoros, and the Dominican Republic. It remains unclear how long the measure will remain in force. No official reason has been given for the measure, though speculation suggests it may be in response to individuals overstaying their visas to search for jobs.
