Yemen: An indefinite strike by truck drivers in Aden in early October

Truck drivers initiated an indefinite strike in Aden Oct. 4 to demand that authorities lower transport levies. It is not clear when the strike will end.

Freight transport disruptions are possible. Organizations, including businesses and aid groups, could experience broader supply chain problems if the labor action is protracted. Associated truck driver protests remain possible. These could occur on routes leading into and out of Aden, including the N1 route (Aden to Lahij), and on roads near the Port of Aden. Security forces are likely to deploy to possible protest sites. Clashes are possible if protesters fail to disperse.
