Warning

Event

Anti-war activists plan to demonstrate in Berlin on Nov. 30 to denounce the Berlin Security Conference taking place in the city Nov. 30-Dec. 1. Participants will gather in Boxhanager Platz from around 17:00 Nov. 30 before proceeding to the intersection of Landsberger Allee and Fritz-Riedel-Strasse for a rally. The march route includes Niederbarnimstrasse, Proskauer Strasse, and Storkower Strasse. Several thousand people could attend the demonstration. Additional, unannounced demonstrations could also take place Nov. 30-Dec. 1.

Participants intend to march past the conference venue at the Andels Hotel on Landsberger Allee, and tight security is likely as a result. Large crowds and related security measures will likely prompt localized road travel disruptions. Traffic disruptions are also likely along the march route. Low-level skirmishes between demonstrators and security personnel are possible, particularly if the former attempt to breach security cordons. While bystanders are unlikely to be targeted, they will face a significant indirect threat near any violence.

Advice

Avoid all demonstrations as a standard precaution. Leave the area at the first sign of a confrontation. Allow additional time to reach destinations in the area. Heed all instructions from security personnel. Maintain a low profile if attending the conference or associated events. Remain alert and report any suspicious activity or objects to the security forces.
