Greece: Authorities imposing heightened security measures in Athens Nov. 15-17; demonstration Nov. 17

Authorities in Athens have imposed increased security measures in the city Nov. 15-17 as a precautionary measure during the 49th anniversary of the 1973 Athens Polytechnic uprising against Greece's former military dictatorship. Increased security measures will be focused around universities, embassies, and the Exarchia area in addition to Syntagma and Omonia squares.

Several organizations and labor unions plan to take part in a demonstration from the Propylaea to the US Embassy beginning at 16:30 Nov. 17.
