An administrative backlog at the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) continues to disrupt the processing of visa applications, as of Dec. 15. The DHA is reportedly working to clear over 56,000 applications across all categories. Authorities have temporarily granted applicants whose visa or waiver applications have expired a temporary extension until March 31, 2023. Authorities estimate that the situation will normalize by June 2024.
