Warning

Event

Activists plan to demonstrate in front of the Government Palace of Nuevo Leon in central Monterrey from 14:00 April 21. The purpose of the demonstration is to demand justice for a suspected victim of femicide and for other women who have experienced gender-based violence in the state. As part of the action, participants will travel by vehicular convoy from the initial gathering site to the Nueva Castilla Motel, where the victim's body was discovered a year ago. Another group of activists will also depart at 17:20 via vehicular convoy from the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Femicides and Crimes against Women, located at the intersection of Calle Alejandro Humboldt and Calle Porfirio Diaz, to the Nueva Castilla Motel.

Authorities will probably maintain a heightened security presence near the gatherings as a precaution. Localized business and traffic disruptions are likely.

Advice

Allow extra time to reach destinations if operating in central Monterrey during the afternoon of April 21 until the protest activity has ended and participants have vacated the area. Heed the instructions of local authorities.
