Norway: Labor unions continue public sector strikes nationwide through mid-April

Unionized public sector workers continue industrial action across Norway through mid-April. Business disruptions likely.

Informational

Event

Two major labor unions have initiated strike action across Norway, which will likely continue through mid-April. Around 25,000 workers represented by the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) and the Confederation of Vocational Unions (YS) started the strike action on April 17 over pay disputes. As of April 18, the industrial action has impacted the construction, brewery, and general manufacturing sectors, as well as ferry operators. Norway's oil and gas industries are not affected.

Until resolved, the industrial action will continue to result in delays and disruptions to businesses and services. Protests by striking workers are possible.
