Turkiye: Armed communal clashes lead to nine deaths in Bismil district, Diyarbakir Province, June 15

Increased security is likely to remain in the Bismil district of Turkiye's southeastern Diyarbakir Province on June 15 following armed clashes between two families over a land dispute that resulted in nine deaths and two injuries. Security forces have deployed to the area of the shooting, as well as to Serceler village.

Further violence is possible in the coming days, including retaliatory attacks from aggrieved family members. Officials could impose movement restrictions, such as curfews, in impacted areas.
