Traders affiliated with the Tanker Owners' Association and Petrol Pump Owners' Association have temporarily suspended their nationwide strike until Sept. 30. On Sept. 3, strike participants commenced an indefinite labor action across Bangladesh, prompting fuel supply shortages and associated disruptions. On Sept. 4, association leaders and government officials from the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) reached partially successful negotiations to meet the leaders' several demands, including a higher sales commission. If their demands remain unmet by Sept. 30, organizers have threatened to resume their work stoppage by ceasing fuel extraction operations and distribution services.
