Internet, other telecommunications disruptions likely in Bangladesh into early November after Oct. 26 fire at Khawaja Tower in Dhaka.

Warning

Internet and other telecommunications disruptions could continue across Bangladesh into at least early November after an Oct. 26 fire damaged Dhaka's Khawaja Tower; the facility hosts multiple data centers, and fire-related disruptions have impacted several telecommunications service providers. While initial statements indicated that internet services would probably be restored by Oct. 27 or Oct. 28, the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh currently estimates that it may take one week for service to return to normal levels.

Telecommunications service disruptions may negatively impact transport and business operations. Residual transport and business disruptions are possible even after telecommunications networks are restored.

Plan accordingly for internet and other telecommunications service disruptions. Consult local providers regarding estimated internet service restoration times. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
