Brazil: Air travel disruptions likely due to partial strike by air traffic controllers from Oct. 9-21

Unionized air traffic controllers from Brazil Air Navigation Services (Brasil Serviços de Navigação Aérea, NAV Brasil) plan to hold partial strikes affecting at least 23 airports nationwide from Oct. 9 until Oct. 21. The purpose of the action is to demand better salaries and working conditions. On Oct. 9-15, activists will hold daily one-hour strikes from 07:00-08:00, and from Oct. 16-21, daily labor actions will be held from 07:00-08:00 and then again from 18:00-19:00.

The airports likely to be impacted by these measures include:

  • Sao Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport (GRU)

  • Santos Dumont International Airport (SDU)

  • Viracopos International Airport (VCP)

  • Goiana International Airport (GYN)

  • Eurico de Aguiar Salles Airport (VIX)

  • Ministro Victor Konder International Airport (NVT)

  • Teresina Airport (THE)

  • Presidente Castro Pinto International Airport (JPA)

  • Palmas Airport (PMW)

  • Londrina Airport (LDB)

Flight delays are likely in the impacted airport; some cancellations may also occur.
