The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has claimed responsibility for an earlier suicide attack that injured two police officers near the Ministry of Interior building in the Kixilay area of Ankara on Oct. 1. Reports indicate that two attackers arrived in a vehicle around 09:30 and one of the attacker reportedly detonated an explosive device at the entrance to the Ministry of Interior, lightly wounding two police officers, while police neutralized the second attacker; Both attackers were killed during the incident.

Authorities will almost certainly maintain an increased security posture in Ankara, especially near government buildings, over the coming days. Associated localized transport and business disruptions are likely.
