Brazil: Planned water outages to affect Rio de Janeiro, Nov. 30-Dec. 1
Planned water outages to affect Metropolitan Area, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Nov. 30-Dec. 1
The Rio de Janeiro State Water and Sewage Company (Companhia Estadual de Aguas e Esgotos do Rio de Janeiro, CEDAE) plans to suspend water service in the Metropolitan Area of Rio de Janeiro to perform maintenance works from 04:00 Nov. 30 to 04:00 Dec. 1. The planned outage will affect around 10 million users in the municipalities of Rio de Janeiro, Duque de Caxias, Sao Joao de Meriti, Nova Iguacu, Mesquita, Nilopolis, Belford Roxo, and Queimados.
Business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of water. The water outages could extend beyond the estimated restoration time.
Stock up on drinking water and confirm alternative water supplies for business operations if operating in the impacted areas. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes. Water pressure and quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Minimize nonessential water use throughout the outage.
