An explosion reportedly targeted a shop in Mogadishu's Yaqshid District between the neighborhoods of Towqiif and Baar Ayaan late Nov. 30. The reason for the alleged attack remains unclear; however, reports suggest that the store may have been targeted for complying with a government directive to install Closed-Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV). No group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast. However, militants associated with Al-Shabaab warned local businesses about installing CCTV cameras.
Heightened security is likely in the affected area over the coming hours. Associated transport disruptions are probable.
