Netherlands: Flight disruptions ongoing at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol Dec. 7 due to severe weather

Flight disruptions ongoing at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Netherlands, Dec. 7 due to severe weather. Reconfirm flights.

Warning

Flight disruptions are ongoing at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) Dec. 7 due to severe winter weather. As of early Dec. 7, authorities have canceled approximately 55 and delayed 64 flights, both arriving and departing. The Netherlands Royal Institute of Meteorology (KNMI) has issued yellow fog and snow/ice warnings (the lowest level on a three-tier scale) across much of the country through much of the morning Dec. 7. If the weather persists, additional cancellations and delays are likely.

It is unclear when flights will normalize, and once they do lingering disruptions are likely as authorities clear the backlog of flights; disruptions could last into Dec. 8.

Plan for delays if scheduled to transit AMS Dec. 7. Reconfirm the status of flights before travel.
