Greece: Unionized public health employees to strike nationwide Feb. 1

Unionized health workers affiliated with the Panhellenic Federation of Employees of Public Hospitals (POEDIN) plan to strike nationwide on Feb. 1. The purpose of the work stoppage is to demand state intervention to implement regulations regarding contract work. Participants will strike from 09:00 until the end of working hours. Additionally, striking workers will stage a rally at the Ministry of Health building in Athens from 10:00. It is unclear how many demonstrators may attend the gathering.

Medical service disruptions are likely at public healthcare facilities across the country during the strike hours. Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the demonstration site. Striking workers could also picket at public medical facilities nationwide.
