Mexico: Activists plan protest march in downtown Mexico City from 16:00 Jan. 25

Activists to march in central Mexico City, Mexico, from 16:00 Jan. 25. Inceased security, localized transport disruptions likely.

Warning

Around 1,000 activists affiliated with the National Assembly of Electric Energy Users (Asamblea Nacional de Usarios de Energia Electrica, ANUEE) plan to march from the Federal Electricity Commission building on Avenida Paseo de la Reforma to the Ministry of the Interior building on Calle Abraham Gonzalez in Mexico City starting at 16:00 Jan. 25. Participants are pressing for the renationalization of the electrical industry, among various other demands.

Although the action will probably remain largely peaceful, authorities will likely maintain an increased security presence near the protest as a precaution. Transport and business disruptions are likely along the march route for the duration of the demonstration.

Avoid the demonstration as a precaution. Seek alternative routes to circumvent the protest march and related transport disruptions. Allow additional time to reach destinations if operating near the impacted area. Heed the instructions of authorities.
