Mexico: Multiple organizations plan to demonstrate in Mexico City June 26

Several groups to demonstrate in central Mexico City, Mexico, June 26; heightened security and localized disruptions likely.

Warning

Multiple organizations plan to host demonstrations throughout Mexico City on June 26. The most disruptive gatherings will likely be two protest marches that will draw 300 or more participants. First, the parents of a 2014 Iguala mass student kidnapping will gather from 16:00 at the Angel de la Independencia and march to the Hemiciclo a Juarez to demand justice from authorities.

Additionally, unionized firefighters and first responders will gather at 17:00 at the Fire Department of Mexico City before marching to the Zocalo. Their action is to demand improved salaries and working conditions.

Although the gatherings should remain largely peaceful, authorities will likely deploy an increased police presence near the demonstration as a precaution. Localized transport and business disruptions are likely along the march route.

Avoid the marches as a precaution. Allow additional time to reach destinations if operating near the impacted area. Seek alternative routes to circumvent any related transport disruptions. Heed the instructions of security personnel.
