Bangladesh: Scheduled gas supply outages to continue in parts of Rajshahi Division until 08:00 Feb. 18
Repair works to disrupt gas supply in parts of Rajshahi Division, Bangladesh, through 08:00 Feb. 18. Transport, power disruptions possible.
Utility provider Pashchimanchal Gas Company Limited will cut the natural gas supply to parts of Rajshahi Division in Bangladesh until 08:00 Feb. 18 to facilitate repair work on the company's gas line in Hatikumrul, Sirajganj District. Outages will affect all commercial, industrial, and residential users, including Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) refilling and power stations. Affected areas are Rajshahi city, Bogura District's Bogura Sadar sub-district, Bera, Ishwardi, Pabna Sadar, and Santhia sub-districts of Pabna District, and Shahjadpur, Sirajganj Sadar, and Ullapara sub-districts of Sirajganj District. Other localities may also face intermittent outages.
Associated transport, commercial, and power disruptions are possible. Reduced operations at affected power plants could prompt blackouts and hamper businesses without backup generators. Opportunistic criminal activity may also increase during electricity outages due to the disruption of security protocols like alarms and electronic fences. Interrupted gas supply to CNG filling stations is likely to prompt long queues, potential rationing to prevent or manage shortages, and possible suspension of CNG-run transport services like autorickshaws. Traffic diversions may also affect the repair site in Hatikumrul.
Plan accordingly for business and transport disruptions through Feb. 18. Confirm deliveries and ground transport reservations. Source for alternative fuel supplies if operations are heavily dependent on natural gas. Charge all devices as a precaution and ensure generators are working. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Verify that security systems are operational, including after power is restored.
