Protesters are gathering at Syntagma Square, Athens, to denounce government consideration of the legalization of same-sex marriage, Feb. 11. This is the second such event in recent weeks following a similar rally on Jan. 21, which several hundred activists attended.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the site. Low-level confrontations between protesters and law enforcement officers or supporters of rival political camps cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the affected areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near demonstration sites. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance.
