Greece: Authorities close Heraklion Airport for maintenance Feb. 19-24
Authorities close Heraklion Airport in Greece, Feb. 19-24 for runway maintenance. Flights suspended.
Authorities have closed Heraklion International Airport (HER) on the island of Crete for runway maintenance from 10:30 Feb. 19 to 15:00 Feb. 24. No flight services will operate at the airport during this period. Flights will be diverted to Chania International Airport (CHQ) and Sitia Airport (JSH).
The airport closure could extend beyond Feb. 24 if maintenance works are not completed as scheduled. Lingering disruptions are possible once the airport resumes operations and officials work to clear a backlog of flights.
Contact air travel provider to reconfirm flight schedules if booked to fly via HER Feb. 19-24. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed.
