Hungary: Activists to conduct protest march in central Budapest Feb. 21
Activists to march from Szent Gellert Square to Prime Minister's Office in Budapest, Hungary, from 17:00 Feb. 21. Tight security likely.
Activists plan to march from Szent Gellert Square to the Prime Minister's Office in Budapest from 17:00 Feb. 21. The purpose of the demonstration is to denounce the alleged improper use of state pardons. It is unknown how many participants may attend; however, tens of thousands of demonstrators attended a related protest on Feb. 16. It was not immediately clear what route demonstrators would take.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely along the march route. Clashes between demonstrators, law enforcement officers, or frustrated motorists cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling in central Budapest in the late afternoon through the evening of Feb. 21. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
