Ireland: Activists to demonstrate in Dublin, Feb. 5
Anti-immigration activists to protest at Garden of Remembrance, counter-protest at the Spire in Dublin, Ireland, Feb. 5.
Anti-immigration activists are planning to protest in the Garden of Remembrance in Dublin from 14:00 Feb. 5. Another group of activists are organizing a counter-protest at the Spire monument on O'Connell Street Lower from 13:00. It is unclear how many participants may attend the two demonstrations.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the protest sites. Low-level scuffles may occur between demonstrators and law enforcement officers. Although the protest sites are about 500 meters (550 yards) apart, protesters could attempt to disrupt the opposing demonstration; in this case, scuffles between protesters and counter-protesters are possible.
Avoid the affected areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the demonstration sites. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
