Warning

Activists have blocked traffic on Arco Norte Highway, near San Martín Texmelucan, Puebla, as of Feb. 20; the blockade is also disrupting traffic on Federal Highway 150D (Mexico-Puebla Highway) near the intersection with Arco Norte. Protesters demand compensation for communal lands where the highway is built, which they have allegedly been denied for several years.

Transport disruptions are almost certain over the coming hours, and authorities will likely deploy increased security to the impacted area. Clashes between protesters and police cannot be ruled out, especially if police attempt to remove the roadblock.

Consider seeking alternative routes to circumvent the impacted highway. Do not attempt to pass through the erected roadblock; wait for police to dismantle it before proceeding. Depart the area immediately at the first sign of clash. Heed all instructions from local authorities.
