Argentina: Protesters cause traffic disruptions in Buenos Aires March 18
Protesters cause traffic disruptions outside Jorge Newbery Airfield in Buenos Aires, Argentina, March 18. Disruptions likely.
Protesters have gathered outside Jorge Newbery Airfield (AEP), also commonly known as Aeroparque, on March 18. Participants have gathered at Costanera Norte, disrupting traffic along Avenida Costanera Rafael Obligado, the access road for the airport. The participants are outsourced workers for Aerolineas Argentinas denouncing layoffs, among other issues.
While no disruptions to airport operations were immediately reported in connection with the protest, minor disruptions at AEP cannot be ruled out. Heightened security and traffic disruptions are likely in the area. Skirmishes between activists and police are possible, especially if police attempt to forcibly disperse the demonstrators.
Avoid the protest as a precaution. Plan for delays if driving to AEP. Consider taking alternative routes to circumvent the vicinity of the demonstration; consider seeking alternative transportation options for time-sensitive travel. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
