Armenia: Activists demonstrating in Yerevan March 27

Opposition activists protesting at Freedom Square in Yerevan, Armenia, as of evening March 27. Tight security likely; clashes possible.

Warning

Opposition activists affiliated with the Together (Miasin) political movement are protesting at Freedom Square in Yerevan as of early evening March 27. The purpose of the demonstration is to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. It is unclear how many participants may attend; however, a related rally on Feb. 29 appeared to draw several hundred participants.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the demonstration site. Clashes between protesters and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.

Avoid all demonstrations as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near Freedom Square. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
