Armenia: Activists plan to demonstrate in Gyumri March 9

Opposition activists plan to protest at Theater Square in Gyumri, Armenia, from 15:00 March 9. Increased security likely; clashes possible.

Warning

Opposition activists affiliated with the Together (Miasin) political movement plan to protest at Theater Square in Gyumri from 15:00 March 9. The purpose of the demonstration is to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Former prime minister and head of the opposition Democratic Party of Armenia, Aram Sargsyan, will give a speech at the event. It is unclear how many participants may attend.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the demonstration site. Clashes between protesters and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the demonstration as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near Theater Square on March 9. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
