Armenia: Activists plan to demonstrate in Yerevan March 13
Opposition activists plan to protest at Freedom Square in Yerevan, Armenia, from 18:00 March 13. Tight security likely; clashes possible.
Opposition activists affiliated with the Together (Miasin) political movement plan to protest at Freedom Square in Yerevan from 18:00 March 13. The purpose of the demonstration is to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The former prime minister and head of the opposition Democratic Party of Armenia, Aram Sargsyan, will give a speech at the event. It is unclear how many participants may attend; however, a related rally on Feb. 29 appeared to draw several hundred participants.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the demonstration site. Clashes between protesters and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.
Avoid all demonstrations as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near Freedom Square on the afternoon of March 13. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
