Authorities in the Netherlands have completed their response to a hostage situation that began during the early hours of March 30. According to police reports, the incident occurred at the Cafe De Pineut on Nieuwe Stationsweg at about 05:30; officers ultimately succeeded in taking the suspect into custody and releasing the four hostages, lifting all security cordons at about 14:00. While officials are continuing their investigation, authorities do not believe the incident was terror-related.

Heightened security and residual localized transport disruptions will probably continue near the scene of the incident until officials have concluded their investigation and completely vacated the area.

Allow additional time to reach destinations near the incident scene in Ede. Strictly heed all instructions from authorities. Remain courteous and cooperative if approached and questioned by local law enforcement officers.
