Netherlands: Climate activists to protest at Eindhoven Airport March 23
Climate activists to protest at Eindhoven Airport, Netherlands, 12:00-13:30 March 23. Several flights canceled or delayed; confirm flights.
Environmental activists affiliated with climate action organizations Extinction Rebellion (XR) and Scientist Rebellion (SR) are planning to protest in the vicinity of Eindhoven Airport (EIN) March 23. Participants will gather 12:00-13:30 on Airport Boulevard next to the main terminal. Protesters are demanding authorities halve the number of flights that occur at EIN. Protest participation is unclear.
Though protest organizers did not immediately announce any plans to trespass onto airport property, protests by XR in the Netherlands have included activists blocking the departure of private jets at airports. In response to the planned March 23 demonstration, several flights at EIN have either been canceled or rescheduled, and ground transport to the terminal may be limited while the protest is underway. Violence is unlikely.
Allow for additional transport time to and from EIN March 23. Reconfirm flights before checking out of accommodations and departing for the airport.
