Armenia: Activists to protest march and rally in Yerevan April 24

Opposition activists to march from Mergelyan Institute at 12:00, protest at Freedom Square in central Yerevan, Armenia from 18:00 April 24.

Warning

Opposition activists plan to conduct two protests in Yerevan on April 24 to denounce government policy related to Azerbaijan. It is unclear how many participants may attend. Protesters will gather at the Yerevan Mergelyan Institute for Scientific Research of Mathematic Machines on Hakob Hakobyan Street at 12:00 before marching to the Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex on Tsitsernakaberd Highway. Later in the afternoon, demonstrators will gather at Freedom Square from 18:00.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near all demonstration sites and the march route. Confrontations, potentially escalating to clashes, between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the protest areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near demonstration areas. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
