Brazil: Transport workers in Sao Paulo plan to protest on May 20 and strike on May 22

Sao Paulo transport workers affiliated with the Sao Paulo Subway Workers' Union (Sindicato dos Metroviarios e Metroviarias de Sao Paulo) have announced plans to protest on May 20 and strike on May 22. Protesters will gather at Praca da Se in central Sao Paulo from 16:00 on May 20. The strike on May 22 intends to shut down Lines 1 (Blue), 2 (Green), 3 (Red), and 15 (Silver); other lines are unlikely to be directly disrupted. Workers will make several labor-related demands, including higher salaries.

Localized disruptions will likely occur near Praca da Se on May 20, and authorities will probably monitor the demonstration.
