Mexico: Activists marching in downtown Mexico City May 30

Activists marching in Mexico City, Mexico, as of May 30. Heightened security, localized transport and business disruptions likely.

Warning

Around 400 activists affiliated with the National Campaign against Forced Disappearances (Campana Nacional Contra la Desaparicion Forzada) are staging a protest march in downtown Mexico City on May 30. The purpose of the action is to denounce the prevalence of kidnapping throughout Mexico. Participants initially gathered at the Angel de la Independencia monument before beginning to march to the Supreme Court.

Although the action should remain largely peaceful, authorities will probably maintain an increased police presence along the demonstration route as a precaution. Localized transport and business disruptions are likely.

Avoid the march as a precaution. Allow additional time to reach destinations if operating in the impacted area. Seek alternative routes to circumvent any related transport disruptions. Heed the instructions of security personnel.
